BIOGRAPHY
I was born in Calcutta in the Indian state of West Bengal. My early schooling was in Catholic and Protestant schools in India. I took an honors degree in English from the University of Delhi (St. Stephen's College), and a master's in English from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. In Prague I studied Czech and linguistics.
I completed my doctoral studies at The University of Chicago. While there I taught the Czech language for several years.
My first 'real job' was a three-year contract as a Lecturer in the Dept. of English, National University of Singapore.
I have been married twice (to Yasuko & Ava) and have two beautiful children, Rahul and Anya.
I like jazz, traveling and cooking.
